Tax Deduction Calculator

(last updated October 28, 2022)

Brookline Green Electricity adds voluntary renewable energy (MA Class l RECs) to total: 90% renewable in 2022 & 2023 and 100% in 2024, supplied to NextEra Energy by a non-profit third party called Green Energy Consumers Alliance (formerly Mass Energy Consumers Alliance). The portion of what you pay per kilowatt-hour for the additional renewable energy electricity ultimately goes to this non-profit, and may therefore be eligible as an itemized tax deduction. Please consult with your tax advisor about your tax eligibility status. The link below to the tax deduction calculator generates a receipt, sent to your email account, for tax preparation purposes, and assumes that you have paid your electric bill in full.

If you have opted up to the Brookline All Green 100% renewable energy product or the Brookline Green 65 (no longer available as of December 2022), Green Energy Consumers Alliance will automatically mail you a receipt for tax preparation purposes, therefore, you do not need to generate a receipt via this calculator.
